Steven Shotts

Chief Executive Officer

Steven Shotts is the co-founder of Educational Testing Consultants and currently serves as the Director of Instruction. As Director of Instruction, Steven is responsible for instructor recruitment, selection, and training at Educational Testing Consultants. Steven is an experienced test preparation instructor, curriculum designer, and instructor trainer. He has a degree in Pure Mathematics, and has been teaching test preparation classes since 1993. In his capacity as Director of Instruction for ETC, he has helped thousands of students prepare for standardized tests. In addition to his instructional experience Steven Shotts is co-author of ETC’s test preparation workbooks for GRE, GMAT, LSAT, SAT, and ACT preparation, and has experience writing test items used in state certification exams.

 

Stephen Harris

Director of Instructional Design

Dr. Stephen Harris is an experienced test preparation instructor and curriculum designer. As Director of Instructional Design and co-founder of Educational Testing Consultants, Dr. Harris has led the curriculum design team in developing the courses for the GMAT, GRE, LSAT, SAT, ACT, and FCAT exams. In addition, Dr. Harris has developed and taught MCAT preparation courses for the Florida State University School of Medicine. Prior to co-founding Educational Testing Consultants, Dr. Harris was a test item writer for the GRE, GMAT, LSAT, and FCAT exams. Dr. Harris holds a PhD. in Philosophy from Florida State University.

 

Kaitlin Moore

Director of Instruction

Kaitlin Moore is an experienced instructor who has helped students of varying ages and abilities since 2009. In addition to her experience as a standardized test preparation instructor and tutor, Kaitlin has also taught undergraduate and professional education courses. Kaitlin earned a B.S. in Natural Sciences from the University of Pittsburgh and an M.S. Cell & Molecular Biology from Missouri State University. Her teaching experience and education have allowed her to master skills in quantitative reasoning, programming, logic, and written and oral communication. Kaitlin brings her sharp critical thinking skills, diverse experiences, and instructional experience to Educational Testing Consultants. Her duties include managing, onboarding, and training instructors as well as assisting in analyzing and developing curriculum.

 

Emily Flowers

Program Development Specialist

After teaching for seventeen years in public school, Emily Flowers possesses extensive skills in helping diverse groups of students reach their potential—both in the classroom and on standardized tests. Emily has completed comprehensive training to teach both SAT and LSAT. Previously, Emily contributed to a new math curriculum for Roanoke County Schools and advocated a shift from the traditional passive lecture-and-memorization-based math learning to a more active model, with students developing their own understandings of mathematical concepts through hands-on collaborative experience. Emily earned her B.A. in English from Roanoke College, where she also completed her teaching certification. She earned her M.A. in English from Virginia Tech. Emily achieved National Board Certification in 1999. As our Program Development Specialist, Emily will shepherd new projects through the growth stages and help us refine our existing programs.

 

Thee Chang

Marketing Manager

Thee Chang is the Marketing Manager at Educational Testing Consultants. As Marketing Manager, Thee works with the Directors of ETC and other members of the team to manage program and marketing initiatives. Thee leads the marketing team and is also responsible for developing, implementing, and executing strategic marketing plans for the company. In addition, Thee oversees program marketing, secondary market research, paid search marketing, email marketing, and lead generation. In addition to her role as Marketing Manager at Educational Testing Consultants, Thee is a professional makeup artist, graphic designer, and loves all things related to art. She holds a Bachelors degree in Marketing from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

 

Carly Price

Account Coordinator

Carly Price is the Account Coordinator for Educational Testing Consultants. As Account Coordinator, Carly is the primary contact for ETC partners. Her duties include program management, course logistics, campus and community research, event coordination, and assisting with marketing initiatives. Carly earned a B.A. in Psychology from Elon University, where she also worked as a tutor for various psychology courses. She previously worked for non-profits, coordinating services for individuals with mental health diagnoses and intellectual disabilities. In her spare time, Carly is the VP of Membership for her local community theater. 

 

Teresa Stephens

Operations Coordinator/Registrar

Teresa Stephens is the Operations Coordinator and Registrar for Educational Testing Consultants. As Operations Coordinator, Teresa takes care of the day to day administrative tasks that help the office run smoothly. As Registrar she completes the registrations for online students and answers any questions the students or partner staff members may have in regards to registration. Teresa has over ten years experience as an administrative/office assistant in different fields such as customer service, human resources and construction. Teresa holds an associate’s degree in Mechanical Drafting and Design Technology from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and has considered continuing her schooling into the Architectural field. She enjoys amateur home design, crochet and writing to use up her spare time.

 

Jenny Schmidt

Instructor Coordinator

Jenny Schmidt graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Math Education. Jenny has been employed by Cabarrus County Schools intermittently since the late 90’s (while growing her family). She taught many levels of high school math ranging from Pre-Algebra to Advanced Functions and Modeling, her favorite being Algebra I/Math I. When not teaching, she worked as a substitute, as Freshman Academy Coordinator, and as an administrative assistant within the county school district. Jenny is stepping out of the public education system to assist the Account Coordinator, Director of Instruction, and provide support for the other operational and instructor-related activities within ETC’s North Carolina Office, but she will continue her relationship with CCS, coaching Cross Country and Swim at the local YMCA.

 

Dora Gonzalez

Social Media Assistant

Dora Gonzalez is passionate about enhancing communication pathways through social media. She utilizes social media’s unsurpassed networking features, a bit of creativity, a pinch of past experience, and some elbow grease in order to best market test prep to audiences. As Social Media Assistant, Dora works directly with the marketing team to help ETC maintain social media channels as well as develop social media campaigns. Dora recently graduated from Rowan County Early College with a high school diploma and an Associate of Arts degree. She will be continuing her education this fall as a Communication Media student at North Carolina State University. During her free time, Dora loves trying out new things such as food, music, and activities.
